Chef Danie has been a chef in this area for the past 15 years. She started her first restaurant in the small town of Vancleave, MS with one thousand dollars and a dream to own the best Italian restaurant in this area. Pappa Roni's was the name of this restaurant and it enjoyed success in the same location for fourteen years drawing a following from across the coast. People drove from as far as Diamonhead to enjoy fresh made Italian food. Chef Danie has a passion for fresh local seasonal ingredients and has always made everything in house . From the salad dressings to the fresh pasta it has been a labor of love. In 2009 Chef Danie opened her second restaurant in Ocean Springs,MS called Capone's Italian Ristorante. This restaurant has been going strong for a year and a half now and with a strong team around her (many of whom have been with her for years) Chef Danie continues to bring great Italian food to the gulf coast. She remains passionate about educating guests about the benefits of eating fresh whole foods and enjoying one of the great gifts of life which is a great meal with family and friends.
Along with her may hours put in at the restaurant Chef Danie also has her own cooking show where she shares her recipes and cooking ideas . There is also a full line of products that are produced at the restaurant -sauces ,dressings and fresh pasta which are sold at Capone's as well as an online store and shipped all over. She teaches pasta classes to guests on Monday nights and also helps out at the local high school culinary program as an advisor.
Chef Danie is also a member of the Ocean Springs Fresh Market where she herself shows up every Saturday morning to sell and sample all of her wares. She is a proud member of Slow Food USA, an honorary member of Culinary Corp as well as a member of Real Food Gulf Coast ,the Ocean Springs Chamber and the Mississippi Restaurant Association.
